Smiters #1 - Batman vs. Spiderman

This is the first match in a series of tournament bouts pitting two powerful forces, which I'm terming "Smiters" (as in one who smites), against each other. Eventually when enough matches have been decided, I'll have the winners fight each other.

To vote, write a comment with "I Vote for _____" in it. You can also campaign for your favourite smiter, by commenting about the reasons they would win, or why their opponent is terrible. At the end of each match, the smiter with the most votes (or most convincing arguments if no votes have been made) will be declared. I'll even even the playing field by weighting in my vote equally with your vote!

Smite Challenge #1 - Batman vs. Spiderman

Batman's Advantages:
-Cool toys
-Batmobile, Batcave
-Lots of money to buy cool toys
-Highly honed physical abilities
-Willing to play dirty/has a dark side
-Secret Identity

Spiderman's Advantages:
-Web-fighting action
-Superhuman physical abilities
-Spidey sense
-Secret Identity
-Social conscience/integrity

I vote for Spiderman -- I think the fight would climax in a hand-to-hand combat situation where Spidey could basically fly around and web batman into a state of submission. True Batman could use his toys, but Spiderman has really fast reflexes.

Pulease Spiderman easy. Spiderman always seems to find a way to win against the most impossible odds. Always

I think that Batman's advantage in smarts is greater than Spiderman's advantage in strength. Batman would simply have more tactics available to him (for instance forcing Spiderman to chose between saving an innocent person and winning the fight) that Spiderman just wouldn't use as an option.

Assuming this isn't just 'hand to hand combat' but more like 'a mission to terminate the other guy' I am going to go with Batman.

Spiderman! I'm partial to him as the seemingly underdog character who can succeed against the odds. :-) Also, I'm going to write my education paper on Learning and development on Peter Parker... ha ha ha!

Totally Spiderman. He may look scrawny, but he's built like a tank. Plus any sneak attacks Batman would set up he could just avoid with his spider-sense.

First, I think it would be cooler if you called them "smitors".

And while spidey sense is useful, common sense is better, so I vote for Batman. Plus, if you're already super-human, that's kind of a cop out.

Another point of comparison: Batman has the far better nemesis of Joker.

"Where does he get those toys!?"

Daniel you seem to be single handedly resurrecting the olde time Celebrity Grudge Match.

Now character for character I'll go with Batman however since your pics are those of the movies... SPIDERMAN and BATMAN BEGINS.

There is really no contest here.... Spidey wins hands down.

Cheers,

P

I vote for Batman.

Even though Spider Man has unique and super human abilities, he isn't very smart. By Smart i mean street smart. He's very brainy but misses out on alot of stuff.

Batman on the other hand is a normal human who is used to fighting super human enemies or (at least in the movie sense) multiple organized criminals/organizations. Plus he can play dirty. I figure that Batman would have skirmishes with spider man and develop a solution that would make his spider web inaffective. Also Batman is very mature and comes into battle always with a suprise and forsight. While spiderman tends to get suprised and relies too heavily on his spidey sense, which is faliable ( in spider man he was caught by the goblin remember?)

Also if Spiderman figured out who batman was, he couldn't do very much, cuz Bruce wayne wouldnt really care (batman 1 when he taunts the joker and get shot) but if batman found out about peter parker, he could use his vast richest to devastate his life and spiderman would be said "oh no! he knows" and have a heart attack.

Alright... with three hours to go before deadline, its tied 4 votes to 4 votes. As a clarification, voting takes place over exactly 1 week. And, yes, Steve (thanks for asking), this is mission to terminate the other guy, not just a hand to hand combat situation, so anything goes. Thus far, in light of the tie, Batman is winning due to the superior arguments... but there's still 3 hours to go, so if you really believe in your hero, you might have to recruit voters!

In the matter of

> "Smitors #1 - Batman vs. Spiderman"

The votes have been tallied and there is a tie.

> Batman - 4, Spiderman - 4

After review, it is hereby decided that the winner is:

Batman

Batman still wins. You guys cancel each other out anyway!

Are you kidding me? George Clooney was the worst Batman on film. There's a reason why he only did one movie...
